2008 Meeting calendar

To start of our fall season, the MLPIA has scheduled Wednesday, Sept 17, 2008, at the Ramada Conference Center (Stage Door room), Lewiston, Maine, as our Membership Drive Kick-off Dinner, Board Meeting, General Meeting and Educational Mini-Seminar. This Gala Meeting, Educational Program and Dinner is one you really shouldn't miss.

Ladies and Gentlemen, from the Law Offices of Funny and Funnier, Maine's "Funniest Mom," Ms. Karen Morgan, Esq.. will make you roll in the aisles with laughter, laugh at the system and laugh at ourselves. She is the best. Born in Athens, Georgia, Karen graduated from the University of Georgia and Georgia State University College of Law. She is licensed to practice law in Georgia and in Maine, where she currently lives with her husband and three children. Karen was with the firm of Garland, Samuel & Loeb in Atlanta. Here in Maine she worked for Dan Lilley before starting her own firm. She is not currently practicing law but rather speaking to legal professionals around the country. While taking a break from the practice of law to raise children, Karen was drawn to stand-up comedy. Much of her material is derived from her experience as a mother, a trial attorney, and as a Southerner living in Maine.
Hailed as Maine’s Funniest Mom, Karen was one of seven finalists in Nick at Nite’s first Search for the Funniest Mom in America, chosen from over 1,000 entries nationwide. Her weekly radio spot, The Mother Load, is featured on The Coast Morning Show. Her new TV series, You Gotta Be Kidding Me, can be seen each month on WCSH6's 207 show. In addition to her individual appearances, she can be seen on TV, in comedy clubs, and in theatres nationwide with her trio of funny moms, Mama's Night Out! Karen's book, You Might Be A Mama! (PER Publishing, 2006) is now available online and in national and local book stores. You can't miss this one! Check out her website, http://www.karenmorgan.com/.
Our General Meeting will be held after our Dinner with an update of the work our PI Law Review Committee has done, an NCISS update, a short program on PI safety in Maine in addition to old and new business discussion at the General meeting. The meeting should adjourn before 8:30 PM.
The cost of the event including dinner will be $25.00. Press releases will be put out and several noted legislators have been invited to the event. The Ramada Conference Center is located at 490 Pleasant Street, Lewiston, Maine just off Exit 80 off the Maine Turnpike.
Mark you calendars now as the MLPIA roars back in to the fall with a great meeting and Dinner. Bring your spouses as Karen Morgan is a headliner from Maine to California.........and we got her! Please feel free to bring any non-members or out of state PI colleagues.

Please mark November 14, 2008 as the date for the MLPIA annual conference/seminar & meeting. It will be held at Vermillo's in Portland, ME. The announcement and schedule should be out by the middle of next week. The list of speakers for this annual event is a very attractive and well experienced line-up.
